Representing Groups of Similarly Injured People
The Gilreath Law Firm, P.A., has extensive knowledge and experience representing individuals in plaintiff class action lawsuits. We have successfully served as lead counsel or co-counsel for plaintiffs in numerous class actions including those involving securities, retirement plans, and health insurance in South Carolina.
Health-Related Class Actions
Acting as co-counsel, our firm was part of a significant settlement in a class action case against Blue Cross-Blue Shield of South Carolina on behalf of state doctors and a similar case against Blue Cross in North Carolina. We also served as co-counsel in a number of plaintiff class actions against hospitals involving uninsured persons.
Duke Energy Litigation
In association with another law firm, we represent clients in a large class action on behalf of former employees of Duke Energy resulting from the conversion of their pension plan to a cash balance plan. More than 20,000 people are a member of this ERISA class action litigation.
LandAmerica Litigation
Another current class action is a multi-district litigation (MDL) against LandAmerica Exchange Services (LES), SunTrust Banks, Inc. and other participants in a Ponzi scheme involving the funds received in 1031 real estate exchanges.
Our founder, attorney James R. Gilreath, is experienced in multi-district litigation. Our law firm does not handle mass tort claims, but focuses on ERISA class actions, securities class actions and other business-related class action claims.
